A Tribal Affair

A Native American casino-hotel complex is about to disrupt the lives of a small island community off the coast of Massachusetts.  On completion of the hotel portion of the project, a celebratory gala is held and one of the principals, the chief of the tribe, is found dead the next morning.  It’s not long before one of the islanders admits to killing him and the Chief of Police is willing to accept this.  But Amy Lee, an ER physician and the de facto coroner on the island, isn’t so sure.

She embarks on her own investigation, while trying to balance her relationship with this same Chief of Police.  Suspects include unhappy islanders, business partners, disgruntled members of the tribe and family members as well.  The more she discovers, the more confusing the case becomes and ends with Amy, not only unmasking the murderer but nearly becoming a victim herself.

Come enjoy this fast-paced, thrilling, third installment of the Amy Lee Murder Mysteries series as it careens between Amy’s romantic entanglements and pulse-pounding adventure.

Publication is scheduled for Amazon and Kindle in May 2020.

Unintended Consequences

Dr. Amy Lee’s life is becoming increasingly complicated since returning to the East Coast island of her birth. A new job. A new house. Two eligible bachelors, both interested in her; one a handsome medical colleague, the other the Chief of Police. The unexpected arrival of her ex-fiance. And, oh, yes. A dead body on the beach.

Amy, and those around her are confronted with what appear to be simple decisions. But the results of those decisions are anything but simple, burdened as they are by unintended consequences.

And so begins his downward spiral into the world of digital medicine and the corporate practice of medicine.

But do the developers really want his help? And do his suspicions threaten to endanger the marketing prospects of the product? The action shifts back and forth: from his hometown to the corporate offices; from nursing supervision to product analysis; from providing patient care to kidnapping.

This is a wild ride through the world of cutting edge medicine and another opportunity for Henry Stevens to bring his own brand of investigation to the table.

Rogue MD

Henry Stevens is a recently retired physician who is doing part-time consulting for the FBI, reviewing records for possible Medicare Fraud. His sister suffered a tragic automobile accident the previous year, which resulted, unexpectedly, in her untimely demise. Henry still feels remorse for the loss, feeling that he should have been able to do more to prevent her death.

Now his brother-in-law, Bob Carlson, still grieving, has been diagnosed with extensive cancer and asks for Henry’s help and advice. After Henry signs off on the protocol, Bob begins an experimental treatment under the direction of a new oncologist at the local community hospital. Everything seems to be going well until Bob has a serious reaction to his treatment. He is left completely blind, and, when his vision fails to resolve, elects to get a second opinion in Boston.

In the course of that evaluation, the doctors in Boston decide that Bob may not have had cancer at all. Anxious to find out what findings had suggested Bob’s diagnosis in the first place, they request the X-rays from the new radiology clinic in town, where the diagnosis was made. When the films are not forthcoming, Henry, feeling even more guilt, gets involved, trying to facilitate making them available and gets more than he bargained for. As he digs deeper, he finds that things are not what they seem and that dark forces beyond his control are at work. The danger begins to escalate as he continues to push, and his life and that of his family are subsequently placed in jeopardy.
