Benny and Max: An Unlikely Love Story is the story of Maximillian Tottenham-Smythe, or simply Max, an earnest, insecure, painfully shy ex-patriate from the UK who has relocated to the States to escape the smothering shadow of his father, Sir Reginald, the former British ambassador to the United Nations. He is studying in the local library for an upcoming college examination when he is approached by a beautiful, quirky, young woman who addresses him by stating: We need to purchase the computer and the machete separately. And so begins a relationship which will subsequently involve a bank robbery, a brain tumor, terrible loss leading to a road to self-discovery, redemption and ultimately in an unexpected, but satisfying conclusion.
