Birger Johnson has practiced primary care medicine for over 30 years. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. He also has a wealth of administrative experience having served as Chief of Medicine and President of the Medical Staff for his community hospital as well as serving on its Board of Managers.
He was also instrumental in establishing a multi specialty, not-for-profit, hospital owned, group practice and served as its Medical Director for over twenty years and, in addition, spent another four years as the Regional Medical Director for a group of full time Nursing Home Physicians on behalf of a national nursing home chain.
He has served on the Senior Medical Advisory Boards for three of the top ranked health insurance companies in America as ranked by US News and World Reports, two of them being not-for-profit and one a for-profit entity. He has also been a member of the faculty of Tufts University School of Medicine in the Department of Medicine for nearly twenty years.
He has recently retired from the practice of medicine and is presently the author of three novels. He lives with his wife in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He can be contacted at birgerjohnsonmd@comcast.net.
